Our booking recommendation: Breakfast at the Käfer restaurant on the Reichstag, free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Book this Compare options
The Käfer Dachgarten-Restaurant is located on the roof of the Reichstag Building, right next to the glass dome. It is operated by Feinkost Käfer, and the Bundestag explicitly directs reservation requests there. Anyone who wants to dine here, like all visitors to the building, must have a photo ID and pass through security.
You have two options: reserve directly with Käfer or book one of the three packages on GetYourGuide, which combine entry and a table. The packages are available for breakfast, lunch and a sunset dinner. All details are per the listing.
The short answer
Yes, you can eat in the Reichstag, at the Käfer Dachgarten-Restaurant next to the dome. A table is only available with a reservation: directly with Feinkost Käfer or via a package including breakfast, a 3-course lunch or a 4-course dinner. The packages then include a dome visit with an audioguide; for direct reservations, we have not found official confirmation of this. Bring your ID and arrive on time, as no entry is possible without passing security.
Can you eat in the Reichstag Building?
Yes, at the Käfer Dachgarten-Restaurant on the roof of the Reichstag Building. A seat is only available with prior reservation.
The restaurant is on the roof, right next to the dome. The Bundestag states that you must reserve via Feinkost Käfer. Guests with a reservation enter the building through the West C entrance below the west portal, not the regular visitor entrance for the dome.
According to visitberlin, with a reservation you can come for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We deliberately do not list fixed opening times here, as the only information we found comes from an older Käfer page. Please check the current times when you make your reservation.

What does the Käfer Restaurant offer?

All three meet at Käfer’s visitor reception in Scheidemannstraße, at the first security check, and all three require your name and date of birth in advance. The table shows what the listings themselves state. Drinks are only listed where the offer explicitly mentions them.

Book thisDo you need a reservation for the Käfer Restaurant?
Yes. Without a reservation, you cannot enter the restaurant, as access is through the Bundestag’s security check.
Book directly via the Feinkost Käfer reservation page. Guests with a direct reservation use the West C entrance below the west portal, per the Bundestag. Käfer itself asks on its travel page that you arrive at the Bundestag security check 15 minutes before your reservation time, at the white security containers at the west entrance, and bring your reservation confirmation and a valid ID.
With the packages on GetYourGuide, the process is slightly different: the meeting point is the Käfer visitor reception in Scheidemannstraße with the first security check. Full names and dates of birth for all guests must be provided in advance for security clearance. The advantage of the packages: entry and table are arranged in one step, and the cancellation terms are clearly stated per the listing.

Does a reservation get me into the dome?
With the three packages, the listing then includes a visit to the Reichstag dome with an audio guide. For a direct reservation, we have not found any official confirmation that the dome is included.
The options for breakfast, lunch and dinner each state that after your meal you can visit the dome with the free audioguide. We promise no more than that here. If you book directly with Käfer, ask about dome access when you reserve. To be sure of seeing the dome, also register free of charge with the Bundestag as described in our registration guide .
Also remember the Bundestag’s conditions: the dome visit depends on parliamentary sessions, events, weather and security, and may be cancelled at short notice. In 2026, the dome will be closed for maintenance from 19 to 30 October, though the roof terrace will remain open. During this period, you will only see the dome from the outside.

What should you bring on the day?
A valid passport or ID card for each guest, your confirmation and enough time. Large luggage is best left at the hotel.
Every guest needs an ID; copies are not accepted by the Bundestag. Bags and coats will be X-rayed, large luggage is not permitted in the building, and there are no lockers on site. Arrive on time: the packages explicitly require punctuality, and latecomers will not be admitted for dinner. The U5 to Bundestag station gets you there from the main station in just a few minutes.
If you cannot decide between the three mealtimes: breakfast is the shortest package and leaves the day free, lunch offers three courses at a set table for 1.5 hours, and dinner is the evening for a special occasion. If you also want to see the plenary chamber, you will find the right tours in our overview of guided tours.
Start the day above the rooftops: breakfast next to the dome, free cancellation up to 24 hours beforehand.
